May 18, 2007 Charleston

Left port at 8:40 this morning and made out way up the ICW. Nothing very exciting today. We started in flat waters with overcast skies. Ended up in a few wider areas that were quite rough. Even had white caps at one point.
We agree that something needs to be done about crab pots in the channels. It is pretty simple to see that boaters have a limited area of water they can negotiate and the crab pots can be placed elsewhere. There is a lot of water out there where crab pots could be placed.
Needless to say we dodged them all day long and came very close to hitting several that were in the way.
We traveled about 4 1/2 hours.....arriving here in Charleston about 1:10. The marina is right in front of the Marriott Hotel where we stayed last month for the looper rendevous.
Craig splashed off the salt and I wore my boot for a few minutes. Too much walking lately and it was quite painful last night and today.
We made reservations for dinner tonight at "82 Queen". We ate there last month as well and like it so much we decided to go back. It was as wonderful as we remembered. Even got the same table in the garden.
As we were watching TV tonight we heard fireworks and sure enough we got to see quite a display just off the stern of the boat. Couldn't have asked for better seats. Nice ending to a good day.
Till next time....
