MAY 15, 2007...Hilton Head
Another long day...2 hours and 30 miles. We may be going too slow.
Dropped the rental car off at 8:30am, quick breakfast and we splashed some fuel as well as getting a pumpout. We don't want to get caught again.
It was a nice cruise to Hilton Head and Harbortown Marina. The rivers were full of dead marsh grass, which you have to avoid. They are like little branches floating in big boggs. I don't think they would hurt anything, but don't want to take the chance.
We've developed a little oil leak around the breather cap. The gasket doesn't seem to fit tight. We need a new gasket, or a thin one to add to the current one to create a better seal. Not much oil lost, just makes a mess.
We arrived at low tide and once we washed the salt off, we went to lunch at the Quarterdeck. Great hamburger and setting.
The last picture is a Mary Lou joke...how many men does it take to roll up a hose? Team work is important in boating!!
We plan to spend a couple of days here reprovisioning and cleaning the boat. Bob and Barb leave us here and we will miss having them on board. They are great friends and boaters!
First Mate notes: Not much to add except that while Bob and Barb went to pick up their car from her brothers house...Craig and I washed the carpets and did a little clean up on the windows. I was going crazy with the boat looking so nasty. Not my style to live in dirt!!
Passed on dinner tonight since we ate such a big lunch. The boys did end up having a sandwich with Barb and I had tea and toast.
Tomorrow we plan on getting some grocery shopping done and then going to dinner with Lloyd and Linda (Barb's brother and wife).
We are here in Harbour Towne and it is beautiful. I love the Marina location. Lots of restaurants and shops nearby.
Guess that's it. Till next time. ML
