JUNE 13,2007...St. Michaels
We made our first trip and stop on the eastern shore of the Chesapeake today; St. Michaels. We left Annapolis at around 9:30 and the trip was about 2 hours, 30 miles, in real calm seas. Most of the boats arrived early afternoon so as to give the women time to shop.
St. Michaels is another town designed around boaters, with neat little shops, resturants, and restored period homes. Lunch consisted of our favorite meal...ice cream from the first of4 ice cream shops we passed. Even though these towns and shops may all look alike, we were able to fill a couple of shopping bags before returning to the boat.
The lighthouse is Bloody Point Lighthouse and we didn't even bother to find our why it was named that. The next picture is the marina here and the rest are of the group as we were eating and drinking once again. We seem to do way too much of that. You notice we are hiding all those drinks and snacks on our bodies in the back row!!! Jerry and Paula have made quick friends and seem to be enjoying everyone.
Tomorrow we will be leaving for anchorage (we never did take Anchoring 101 after our trip South) in the Wye River. Catch ya then.....ML and Craig

the light is actually called Bloody Point Bar Lighthouse. Bloody Point light house is south of Hilton Head. It was built to warn of a shallow bar that runs near Kent Island. If you look closely you will see it tilts 2 degrees off center which is a correction from the 4 degrees off caused by early ice flows. It burned completely in 1960 and since then has been unmanned and automated. It was sold at auction a couple years ago to a Nevada Lawyer who plans to remodel it. Gotta love the internet.
