JUNE 9, 2007...BALTIMORE...company arrives
The morning was spent relaxing while we waited for Jerry and Paula and the Gulf Harbour Yacht Club boats. We had a few chores to do but the main objective was to find a new pair of white sandles for ML. Mission was accomplished.
Jerry and Paula arrived on board at about 3:00pm and I know we won't go hungrey. The GHYC boats started arriving at around 2:00pm and were all in by 4:00pm. There are 8 boats and probably 16 couples. The boats were rented at Kent Island on the Chesapeake and are mostly 40-43 foot cruisers. Mary Ann and Tom Teeter arrived at around noon and made the trip from Fort Myers in their new boat in only 14 days. We have been gone about 42 days.
We had a cocktail party on the dock and the "snacks" were great. We then all walked to the inner harbor to Phillips for dinner. Bill and Melanie Jackman hosted the evening, and even though they felt it didn't go completely as planned, the food was good and everyone had a good time. Thanks for all your effort.
The inner harbor is like one big mile long street party with thousands of people walking around. There must be a 100 places to eat and street entertainment going on everywhere. Baltimore has done a great job in converting a run down warehouse district to a fun place.
After the sun went down the temperature drop to a comfortable 60 degrees and the walk back to the boat was very enjoyable. After a short nap in the outside saloon, and it was off to bed. The next week looks to be a real enjoyable one with my brother and his wife on board and the yacht club group functions. I hope we find time to blog!!!

good to see uncle jerry and aunt paula (even if it is only on the blog)! Sounds like a fun week in store for you guys. Been busy here, put kyle to work at rimkus last week and marissa had her nca cheer camp with the reagan girls. although she was nominated for nca all american (big deal), she wasn't chosen since she still cannot tumble with the wrist injury and all. didn't make it to the lake this weekend, just too darned busy!
on a side note...here comes the history lesson since dad didn't give us one today...the constellation pictured on the blog is the only remaining civil war era ship still afloat and the last completely wind powered battleship built by the us. it is named after the uss constitutions (old iron sides) sister ship which was originally named for the "constellation" of stars on the us flag.
