JUNE 11, 2007...Back to Annapolis

The day started a little cloudy, but by the time we left Baltimore at 9:00am the sun was coming out and the temperature began to climb. We reversed our earlier route in the GPS and headed for Annapolis and the Severn River. About half way there we remembered we had not secured a stern line and we were draging it in the water. We secured it and were on our way when we developed a viberation in the starboard engine/transmission. After we reversed the engine it seemed to run all right and we went on to Annapolis. Even though we probably dislodged what was on the prop, we have contacted a diver to look at it on Tuesday morning and make sure we don't have something wrapped around the shaft.

Once in Annapolis we decided to cruise up the Severn River, a trip of about 14 miles. It was narrower than the other rivers in the Chesapeake so we enjoyed the multi-million dollar real estate along the shores. It was a great cruise before we arrived at Annapolis Yacht Basin around 12:30 and got our slip assignment. This slip was even tighter than the one we had last week, but we got in with no trouble. Brother Jerry and Paula are learning the crew functions really quick.

Lunch was at Pusser's with pain killers all around. ML dropped off her perscriptions at CVS and as usual they couldn't fill them...come back tomorrow. Their turns on inventory has to be great, since they never have it in stock. The pain killers kicked in, so it was back to the boat to relax prior to the 7:00pm cocktail party to be hosted by Jim and Nancy Hudson on their 112 foot Broward, "Lady Nancy".

The boat and the party were above expectations. The three private cabins with baths and the owner suite were breath taking. The living room, private dinning room and galley were a designer's dream...the helm station was pretty neat also. The upper level featured a bar and held most of the group...40 to 50 people. Jim and Nancy plus the the crew did an outstanding job of making everyone feel welcomed...to a point we probably overstayed our welcome. The food was wonderful and I don't think anyone went to dinner after the party. ML has decided this is the way she would like to cruise...no more dock lines and locks for her! It was a great evening!

Plans are to tour Annapolis after the diver is done on Tuesday, then to St. Michaels on Wednesday. Weather is beautiful.
