Today started very early. Craig went to the showers and I ironed believe it or not. By 8:45 we had eaten breakfast and were on the water once again.
The waters were fairly calm and quite cloudy to start. However...when we reach Southport Inlet we got into bigger waters and 4-5 footers on the bow. Not a lot of fun, but it didn't last all that long.
A few miles before we reached the marina here North of Wrightsville...the charts ran out on the GPS and so we had to rely on the paper charts. Needless to say I did a great job getting us here.
We got held up a little at the first bridge. We had to wait 45 minutes for the opening. It is called Sunset Beach pontoon bridge and is the last pontoon bridge on the ICW. The rest of the pontoon bridges have gone to bridge heaven I guess. I have included a couple of pictures.
This is a quiet marina with no other transients. We are IT and are on the fuel dock. The rest of the boats are regulars who keep their boats here.
We were going to stop in Wrightsville, but decided to travel the extra 20 miles today so as to keep tomorrow's day shorter. We like to cover approximately 60-70 miles a day. That takes about 5-6 hours and it is enough.
The captain has gotten a little behind on his scheduling. He now finds himself working on charting each night. Keeps him busy and awake!!! If he isn't busy he falls asleep on the couch and then is awake at the crack of dawn. Ask Bob and Barb.....true isn't it???
The scenery did change a bit today. The picture of the sand was the highest point we saw all day. Everything is very flat and almost boring at times. The water was definitely much prettier than ysesterday. That was a real plus!!!
Dinner on board tonight. I even made some homemade potatoe salad as a treat for the captain. I don't even make that at home. Too much work!
If any of you loopers are interested in staying here....call ahead since they only take a couple of boats . Diesel was $3.00 a gallon and the people were great to work with. The pump out is right here and makes it pretty handy. The guys name is Mike and his number is 910-262-5537.
Pictures are being stubborn so they will get downloaded another time. Sorry!!!

3.00 a gallon!!! I am going to switch my car over to diesel and move down south. We are currently at 3.49 a gallon on land and fuel docks are running at 3.78 a gallon.
