November 8, 2006 First Mate

Another day in Carrabelle and another day of relaxation with new friends. We have met some very nice people here, but are ready to move on and cross the Gulf. This has been a very long layover and we are finally looking at good weather for the next couple of days. We have at least 8 boats waiting to make the crossing. All have a different pace to travel, but we have chosen to stay with Gen-a-Sea and travel at around 18-20 knots. If the waters are smooth and we get closer to Clearwater we may move ahead and try to make a little better time.
Last night we all decided to gather once again in the gathering room and share a potluck dinner. It was amazing how we all managed to make something different and delicious. It was fun to share stories once again. The two sailboaters did leave today, but 5-7 foot waves were more than we wanted to tackle. Tonight those left here decided to go to dinner, but I have already struggled with one of those "not-so-good" dinners so Barb and Paul and Craig and I decided to get some chicken from the grocery store and fill in with our own sides. Barb is doing macaroni salad and I did deviled eggs, Asiago bread and made an apple crisp. Once again we will not starve.
I have downloaded a couple of pictures of our dinner last night. Not exactly action shots, but it pretty much shows what we do when we are just sitting in port. EAT!!!!
