MAY 28, 2007...Norflok

On the road again. Just another nice day and we got an early start. It is only 50 miles and first 30 miles are pretty open. We had 13 bridges, most draw bridges and one lock. The lock was only a foot drop. We did have an hour wait to before we got locked through.
Norfolk is definitely a major seaport. The last 20 miles were congested and the navy adds to the congestion of container ships. We got to see homeland security again...but not up close. ML did get a couple of pictures of navy ships, including a couple of aircraft carriers.

We docked at the downtown marina. We arrived just in time for wind down of the 3 day African festival...blacks to us. A lot of tents and entertainment, but over at 6:00pm. The good humor man truck was parked close and we got to listen to his jingle for 4 hours. We both will probably hear it in our heads all night...it is kind of like the Disney "small, small world" song. It locks in.

There is a port mall next to the marina with a food court, retail shops and a number of resturants including Hooters, Joes Crab Shack, Outback, etc. We went to Outback Steak House to celeberate our 47th anniversary. Nice evening.

We are going to get a needed few days off while we wait for the Hackenbergs on Wednesday. The boat needs some attention and the fresh water pump is number one project on Tuesday.

Well I am happt to report that the hot water tank works, the toilet is fixed, we have air for now and the lift is rigged only like two guys and a 12 pack of beer could do. The water was 61 degrees and we did not have a lot of time to figure it out but it works for now. Happy Anniversary and enjoy your time together. Not long until you hit the fresh water!!!

Happy Anniversary!! Sounds like you had a great day. I told Louie that if we make it 47 years I want to go somewhere better than the Outback Steakhouse!

Hugs,
