JUNE 21,2007...Special entry...John Moffatt
We usually don't do special entries, but this one needed to be. We meet John Moffat on the dock in NYC on Thursday and had a chance to visit with him about his amazing adventure. John is out to set the worlds record on a jet ski...14,000 miles in 150 days.
To learn more about the trip and John go to his website http://www.jetskiworldrecord.com/ This is not John's first trip since he held the record in 2000 after doing the loop on a jet ski...5600 miles in 80 days. This trip will take him to about every river, great lake, and both coasts before he is done. We may see him again in Lake Champlain since he going to Montreal and then back to Troy so as to the barge canal.
He has no charts and only carries a road atlas to identify the cities. If the pictures post, you will note his storage space is about 2' by 2' and must carry everything. He definitely knows the meaning of packing light. Consider he must be on the water, then dress for his interviews, carries a sleeping bag and all his gear. He doesn't have a support team traveling with him, either on land or water. His blog explains why! As to sleeping, he usually finds an empty bed on a boat in the marina...we offered but he already had made arrangements.
He left at 7:00am on Friday for the 120 mile trip to Albany, NY and has a radio interview scheduled at 4:00pm. We hope to meet again and spend more time with him.

you really need to READ your Lakeland Boating...his story was in there quite some time ago...he has something to do with the "hollywood" croud and he was doing this to raise awareness for his sister who is sufferring from some illness.
